Prevention begins at home by parents limiting access to substances. On Senior Community Service Day, members of the Class of 2022 at Hingham High School wrote and starred in two informational videos on prevention. The message in both is clear: parents play an important role in underage substance use.

 

According to the Youth Risk Behavior Survey conducted by the Hingham Public Schools in 2019, 60% of Hingham juniors said that in the previous 3 months they had attended at least one unsupervised party where alcohol was consumed. Research shows that the earlier a young person starts using substances the more likely they are to develop an addiction..
